we have used apple before it was great, cancun was pretty nice, i hear Cozumel is nice, don’t go to puerto vallarta, heard to many bad things about that place. go to a adults only hotel, just becarful which one you pick, some hotel don’t have a dress code if you know what i mean, topless or less
why don’t you check out http://www.visitmexico.com
or talk to a travel agent
you should find plenty of options
I am telling you you HAVE to go to the El Dorado Maroma Resort in Riviera Maya if you want an adults-only all-inclusive free from children, white sand beaches, low key, EXCELLENT service, etc. It’s a fairly secluded resort except for the Maroma Marina right next door (so many activities you can do for excursions). It’s a good 45 minute walk until you get to a strip of other resorts. There are no buffets but we never went hungry. They have one of the best chefs in Mexico and 3 great themed restaurants. Like I said, this resort is very low-key, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you were looking to party at clubs, etc. The suites are all very nice. They have jacuzzi swim-up suites, but you have to book pretty far in advance to get those. It’s best to probably work with a travel agent. They also have honeymoon suites which we had. There are two pools and swim-up bars and it’s honestly the best beach in Riviera Maya that I’ve seen. I’d give it beyond 5 stars and would go back year after year if I could. Here’s a link: This is the travel agency I use, Fox World Travel. http://www.gofox.com/vacations/resortInfo.php?resortId=1924
The Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya is between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Click this link and view the pictures and read the details:

Check out this website. You can sort by cost (low-high, high-low) or other parameters as well.
I don’t know about all-inclusives, but I just thought I’d give you a heads up that August in Mexico is going to be either sweltering or very rainy. That’s hurricane season. My friends went to Cancun on their honeymoon in mid-August a couple years ago and had to leave early because of a hurricane. I recommend the spring in Cabo if you’re flexible. And I hear Riviera Maya/Playa Del Carmen have great all-inclusives.
Don’t go to Cancun why is it that everybody goes there? i mean it’s nice but there are other places that are beautiful too such as Veracruz, Oaxaca, Ixtapan, Los Cabos, Puerto Escondido.
Free of children is a tough one. Don’t go to a well visited place. Check out Dreams Huatulco Spa and Resort. Awesome awesome resort. You will be treated like royalty, best all inclusive with 5 restaurants, 5 bars and the food is great and unlimited premium beverages. Many activities are also included in the price including bungi jumping, water trampoline, water/beach volleyball, olympics, frisbee, football, soccer tennis, archery, kayaking, too much to list. You will enjoy it so much. You can get a great deal on this resort just watch prices. October is the cheapest month to vacation, enjoy! We visited this place and although not kid free, we did vacation with encounter 1 child in the whole resort but not guaranteed. The good thing is this is a gem and not many people know about Huatulco, the weather is absolutely amazing…very warm so if you don’t like the heat it will not be the place for you. This place is very romantic. Beaches are gorgeous, not all white but light brown with white, AMAZING. We’ve been to Cancun too and this topped it by far!
